Trout Release

Needless to say, in a world that is quite unfamiliar to us all right now, the pandemic we are currently facing has presented our share of challenges and hardships. Our lives have been altered in one way or another. Despite these times, I’m happy to say our 2 rainbow trout have been thriving in the classroom not at all affected by these unprecedented times. Living a peaceful, quiet, uninterrupted life within the glass walls of the classroom tank, they grew to a size of about 5 inches….the biggest & healthiest I’ve seen yet! Perhaps the tranquil solitude life they’ve been living the past few months allowed them to flourish even more.

Although, sadly, the 8th grade class was unable to take the annual field trip to Toms River, I took them myself on Thursday, May 14. With the help of Mr. Clark, we were able to retrieve them out of the tank, and I drove them up to the small quaint Riverwood Park. There they were released into their new habitat.

Honestly, part of me wanted to join them as they swam away gleefully
free from the stresses of the world around us. – Bobbi Elwell, Science Teacher
