8th grade traveled up to Toms River May 17th for our annual Rainbow Trout Release field trip. We had one sole survivor, the students named “Fred”, who grew to be about 4” in length. Probably our largest class trout yet! Students enjoyed a fly fishing demonstration along with a closeup look at the macroinvertebrae present in the stream. Studying the aquatic insects gives us an idea of how healthy or polluted the stream is. We found the stream to be on the healthy side.
