On November 11, we honor the wartime service and sacrifice of men and women in the armed forces. Originally proclaimed Armistice Day in 1919 to commemorate the end of World War I, it was renamed Veterans Day in 1954 to include American veterans of all wars.
Today, November 6, Greenwich Stow Creek Partnership Schools recognize all those among us who have been a part of the great brotherhood and sisterhood we call the U.S. military—our veterans, active-duty service members, guardsmen and reservists. It is their service and sacrifice that has kept our country safe and free. We honor those who have served, and remember those who can no longer be with us.
